In The Beginning...

When I see myself in pictures...there are pictures that I don't feel like I look as big as I do in other pictures. Our family picture on the beach...I don't feel that I look as big as I do in the pictures at the bottom of this post. Go ahead and scroll down and look...I know you want to or already have. LOL!

I am actually on day #3 of this journey that I am praying helps to transform my life into a healthier, happier ME!

I am participating in the weight loss program like nothing that I've ever heard of before. It takes a completely different approach to obesity. Yes, I am admitting that I am obese. I want to lose 50 lbs. and with this program...I believe it is attainable. It consists of taking HCG (pregnancy hormone) drops 3 x a day and maintaining a 500 calorie diet. You can't do one without the other!

So, I will recap what has been happening on Day #1 & #2.

I choose to try this new weight loss program after seeing the remarkable results of a friend. I signed up and ordered the protocol on July 31st, knowing that I couldn't start it until August the 10th. I wanted to get home from vacation and we had another camping trip set up previously with another couple for this past weekend.

On day #1 & have to gorge...literally, gorge while taking HCG hormone drops 3 x a day. This is to replenish your fat storage so that when you go to a 500 calorie...yes, 500 calorie diet your body will burn it stored "bad" fat instead of the good structural fat. If you burn the good, structural fat...that is when you end up with saggy skin and a hollowed looking face.

Dr. Simeons did his research over 30 years ago on obesity and this is what he found that works with every body type...both male and female.

Round #1 = 40 days or 34 lbs. which ever comes first. Then you get off the program x a minimum of 6 weeks. The first 3 weeks, the HCG is still in your system and you can eat regular foods still eliminating sugars and starches. The next 3 can go back to eating whatever you want.

As for day 1,2...I was so sick of eating that I thought I would throw up. You have to gorge on the highest fatty food you can get down. I thought it would be fun but it was very hard.

On Tuesday, Day 2...I went shopping at Kroger and the Marion Marketplace to buy all my produce and meats for this week. I am not really good at picking out meats and I haven't ever bought some of the vegetables that the plan allows you to have...but, the hunt was on. I also went to Wal-Mart and bought new bathroom and it weighs you in increments rather than half and whole pounds and kitchen food scales that weighs your food in grams. Both of these items will be a huge help on this program...they are a must! You can't guess at your food and lose weight.

What I do like about this plan is that you can have steak, chicken, veal, certain kinds of white meat fish, crab legs, shrimp and lobster. The catch can only weigh 100 grams...RAW!

Now, I am on day #3 and this is when the real weight loss begins.

Dear Lord...I look huge in these pictures and compared to these other ladies. But, it doesn't matter what anyone else is about how I feel. When a person doesn't not feel good about affects nearly every other area of their lives.

I am thankful that God set my body up with aches and pains with the weight that I am because my feet, ankles, knees and hips hurt and I know it is from carrying this extra weight that my body is not designed to carry.

It's time to do something about it and I am!

  1. Jenn,

Honey, I thought you were fasting for something else. I apologize. Forgive me. I forgot all about this diet. Your friend is a bozo whose head is filled with lightning bolts half the time.

I want you to know that I know what it is like to not like your body. When I was pregnant with Josh I could not keep food down and they put me in the hospital 3 times and fed me intravenously. The weight gain was substantial and when I delivered Josh I weighed 199 pounds!! It took me many years to get those pounds all honesty, it took me getting sick and them putting me on medication where I lost my appetite. I didn't have the willpower to stay on a healthy eating plan.

So I applaud your efforts and I am going to be praying for you through your journey. Please feel free to email me anytime if you need me to pray or just to talk to! You know I love ya!

  2. Jenn,

I think your reasons for doing this are completely valid and I applaud you for doing this. While I am typing this and wishing I had the will power you do, I am wolfing down fast food with mango tea. Hey it's all I have eaten the whole day besides sharing a tub of buttered popcorn with my 10 year old.

Please let me know how this goes and journal all your physical symptoms as well headaches, mood swings etc to see if it eventually goes away.

    Praying for you sweet sister!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  3. You already know I'm standing in support and prayer of you. I love you.

  4. You know I'm looking forward to seeing this journey that you are taking. We all will be standing beside you in prayer my friend.

  5. I love you, and I will be cheering you on. You have my prayers, and support sweetie.

Thank you in advance for all the words of encouragement as I travel this journey to a healthier me! Love you all!
